Our Amazing Days 4-5-6 Singapore Adventure: Culture, Food, and City Sights

Day 4: Culture, Colour & Cocktails in the Heart of Singapore

After several days of adventure and sightseeing, Day 4 promised a blend of relaxed dining, cultural exploration, and nightlife — a perfect representation of Singapore’s diverse offerings.

🍳 Morning Bliss at Group Therapy Cafe

We started the day in style with breakfast at Group Therapy Coffee, located on Cross Street within the charming Duxton/Chinatown district. This café is a hidden gem — cosy, modern, and just the right amount of buzz. It’s a cozy spot known for its laid-back vibe, specialty coffee, and hearty brunch menu. The original one was in Duxton Hill, tucked away upstairs in a charming shophouse, and they’ve since expanded to other locations like Katong and Cross Street Exchange.

  • 🥣 Kim had the Acai Bowl, beautifully presented with granola and fresh fruit.

  • 🍳 I went for the hearty Big Breakfast — eggs, bacon, toast, and all the fixings.

The coffee was on point, the staff were warm and welcoming, and the ambiance was spot-on for a calm, easy morning.

🕌 Wandering Through Little India

Post-breakfast, we made our way too Little India, one of Singapore’s most vibrant and historically rich districts. Located just northeast of the city centre, Little India is a sensory delight, filled with spice shops, sari stores, temples, and colourful street art. It’s energetic, colorful, and full of life. The streets are lined with historic shophouses painted in bright hues, and the air smells like incense, curry, and jasmine. You’ll hear Bollywood music playing, see fresh flower garlands being strung, and probably bump into a procession or celebration if you're lucky!

🔍 Why visit?

  • Admire the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple — one of the oldest Hindu temples in Singapore.

  • Hunt for bargains at the street markets.

  • Capture vivid murals along Belilios Lane and Dunlop Street.

Unfortunately, the high humidity and cloudy skies made it less than pleasant to wander for too long. Large crowds gathered along the streets, and the heat made the experience a bit overwhelming.

🛍️ Air-Con Escape: Mustafa Centre

Thankfully, we found cool refuge inside the iconic Mustafa Centre, located on Syed Alwi Road. This 24-hour mega-mall is a shopping wonderland with everything from electronics to perfume to groceries — all at wallet-friendly prices.

Kim was in her element — browsing, haggling, and checking out jewellery and skincare. If you love a good bargain and don’t mind a bit of chaos, this is your place!

🎨 A Splash of Culture in Kampong Glam

Next, we hopped over to Kampong Glam, one of Singapore’s most photogenic neighbourhoods. Ah, Kampong Glam is Instagram heaven 😍✨ – it’s where heritage meets hipster in the most colorful, photo-ready way. Once home to Malay royalty, it’s now a trendy district full of indie boutiques, art murals, cafes, and the iconic Sultan Mosque.

Kampong Glam is giving ✨golden domes and palm tree strolls✨. First stop: Sultan Mosque – a must-see beauty that’s just as majestic in person. Arab Street is all textures and colors. Haji Lane is basically a living art gallery. Every wall = a new vibe.

📸 Instagram hot spots include:

  • Haji Lane for vibrant graffiti walls and fashion stores

  • Bussorah Street for views of the mosque and Middle Eastern restaurants

We wandered the laneways, snapped lots of photos, and shopped in a few quirky stores — a truly cool vibe.

🥃 The Grande Whisky Museum Tour

With a two-for-one voucher in hand, we headed to The Grande Whisky Museum, tucked near Marina Bay Sands.

This sleek, upmarket museum offers a guided tour through the world of rare whiskies. The architecture and ambiance were fantastic — dim lighting, oak barrels, and golden bottles lining the shelves. Sadly, photography wasn't allowed, which was disappointing given how beautiful it all was. But the whisky samples at the end were top-notch and made it worth the visit.

🍗 Dinner & Music at Wings Bar and Grill

After a much-needed swim and chill at the hotel, we set out for dinner at a nostalgic spot: Wings Bar & Grill.

🗺️ Location: Now in Robertson Quay (it used to be in Clarke Quay 10 years ago!)

Overlooking the river, the bar is a lively mix of Americana-style aviation décor, cold beers, great cocktails, and live music. Here's what we had:

  • 🍤 Prawn nibbles to start

  • 🍔 I had the crispy chicken burger

  • 🥩 Kim chose the steak

  • 🍹 Drinks included Little Creatures, Tiger Beer, Lychee cocktails, and a classic Singapore Sling

🎶 As the band took to the stage, the energy shifted — laughter, dancing, and a feel-good atmosphere filled the air. A fantastic night.

💤 A Peaceful End

After soaking up the music and riverside vibes, we took a short walk back to the hotel, feeling full, happy, and ready to rest. Another brilliant chapter in our Singapore adventure.

💡 Travel Tips of the Day

  • 🕗 Visit Little India in the early morning or late evening to avoid the heat.

  • 🛒 Bring cash to Mustafa Centre — while cards are accepted, cash speeds things up.

  • 📸 Ask about photo policies before joining museum tours.

  • 🎷 Robertson Quay is perfect for a chill night out — less hectic than Clarke Quay but equally vibrant.

🌿 Day 5: Nature, Lights & Jurassic Bites at Gardens by the Bay

Today was set to be a big day out, and we were ready for it. With comfy shoes on and cameras charged, we jumped on the MRT and made our way to one of Singapore’s crown jewels — Gardens by the Bay.

🏞️ Arrival at Gardens by the Bay

📍 Location: 18 Marina Gardens Drive, Singapore
Located just behind Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay is a 101-hectare futuristic nature park that blends stunning architecture with lush greenery. It’s easily accessible via the Bayfront MRT Station, with signs leading directly into the gardens.

With giant glass domes, towering Supertree structures, and themed gardens, this place is an absolute must-see.

🌸 First Stop: The Flower Dome

The Flower Dome is the world’s largest glass greenhouse, and walking into it is like entering an enchanted garden. It’s cool inside — a welcome change from the tropical heat outside.

🌸 What It’s Like Walking Through the Flower Dome, Singapore

Stepping into the Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay is like entering a beautifully curated dream — one where nature and design meet in the most breathtaking way.

As the glass doors open, you're greeted by a cool, refreshing breeze — a pleasant contrast to Singapore’s tropical heat. The temperature is a crisp 23–25°C, perfectly maintained to simulate the cool-dry Mediterranean climate. Right away, you feel like you've been transported to another world.

🌿 A Walk Around the World in Bloom

The path winds gently through themed gardens representing regions from across the globe. You’ll stroll past olive trees from Spain, desert succulents from Mexico, and flowering bottle trees from Australia. Every corner has something new to discover.

  • 🌷 In one section, tulips bloom in bursts of color — crimson, purple, orange, and yellow.

  • 🌹 In another, there are fragrant rose gardens, cactus terraces, and bonsai displays.

  • 🏛️ Ancient Roman columns and stone fountains are dotted throughout, blending art and flora in harmony.

The dome is massive — officially the largest glass greenhouse in the world — yet the layout is intimate, guiding you gently through its story with every step.

📸 Photo Opportunities Around Every Bend

There are stunning backdrops at nearly every turn. From giant floral arches to cascading walls of blossoms, this place was made for the camera.

Some must-capture spots include:

  • 🌸 The central floral display, which changes seasonally (Cherry Blossoms during spring, Dahlias, Sunflowers, or Poinsettias depending on the month)

  • 🪻 The wide viewing windows with panoramic views of Marina Bay and the Supertrees

  • 🌿 The perfectly symmetrical pathways framed by rare and exotic plants

Even casual phone snaps here look postcard-worthy.

🌼 A Feast for the Senses

It’s not just visual. The air is fresh, often carrying the scent of lavender, eucalyptus, or roses, depending on the current display. The sounds are soft — light music and the occasional whisper of water trickling in the background. It’s a calm, meditative walk, where every sense is gently stimulated.

Benches and seating areas are scattered throughout, inviting you to pause, sit, and soak it all in.

🌟 Final Thoughts

Walking through the Flower Dome feels like wandering through the pages of a storybook, where every chapter is a different country, climate, and floral fantasy. It’s serene, inspiring, and endlessly photogenic — whether you’re a plant lover, photographer, or simply someone who appreciates beauty.

If you’re in Singapore, this is a must-do. And don’t rush it — let yourself slow down, breathe deeply, and just enjoy the serenity one bloom at a time.

🌫️ Next Up: Cloud Forest

From the calm serenity of the Flower Dome, we stepped into the mystical mist of the Cloud Forest — or as I like to call it, Cloud Land.

🌫️ Walking Through the Cloud Forest, Singapore

If the Flower Dome is a gentle floral story, then the Cloud Forest is an epic adventure through a lush, mystical mountaintop world.

🌬️ A Grand, Misty Entrance

As soon as you enter, you’re greeted by a dramatic 35-metre-tall indoor waterfall — the tallest indoor waterfall in the world when it opened. It roars down from the top of a mist-shrouded structure called Cloud Mountain, drenching the air in a fine, cooling mist.

It’s a jaw-dropping welcome — people often stop in their tracks just to take it all in.

🌱 A Journey Up and Around

You begin your journey by taking a lift to the top of Cloud Mountain, and from there, a spiraling Cloud Walk leads you back down. The elevated walkway wraps around the mountain, giving you a bird’s-eye view of the entire dome.

At every level, you're surrounded by orchids, ferns, moss-covered walls, and exotic plants typically found in tropical highlands at 2,000 meters above sea level.

  • 🐉 Look out for “Lost World” plants like carnivorous pitcher plants and rare begonias.

  • 🍃 The air feels cool and damp, like a rainforest after a fresh morning rain.

  •

  • 📸 Photo opportunities are everywhere — especially when the mist sprays and the light rays cut through it.

🌿 Unique Features

  • Crystal Mountain Cave: See stalactites, stalagmites, and learn about Earth’s geology.

  • Cloud Forest Gallery: A section focused on climate change and conservation.

  • Secret Garden: A magical little hideaway with small blooms and delicate detail.

It’s mysterious, educational, and utterly captivating — walking the Cloud Forest feels like exploring a hidden paradise lost in the clouds.

☕ Frappe Break at Starbucks

After soaking up the cool mist and snapping a ton of photos, we took a much-needed break at Starbucks, located just outside the domes. With iced frappes in hand, we cooled down, relaxed, and regrouped for our next adventure.

💐 Floral Fantasy: A Dreamy Escape

Kim decided at the last minute to check out Floral Fantasy. This immersive experience combines technology with nature in a whimsical indoor garden walk.

🌺 Walking Through Floral Fantasy, Singapore

Compared to the grandeur of the Cloud Forest, Floral Fantasy is more like walking through a dreamscape or a living fairytale — whimsical, colorful, and immersive.

✨ A Whimsical Wonderland

Floral Fantasy is compact but richly detailed, split into four themed zones: Dance, Float, Waltz, and Drift. Each section has a unique feel, curated with a mix of live flowers, soft lighting, flowing water features, and fantasy-like installations.

Think Alice in Wonderland meets Avatar.

  • 🦋 Floating floral orbs gently spin above your head.

  • 🌷 Floral chandeliers sway to soft music.

  • 💧 Water bubbles drift across the floor and walls, adding a playful vibe.

The combination of music, scent, light, and flowers makes this a sensory-rich experience unlike any other in the park.

📸 Instagram Heaven

This is one of the most photogenic spots in Gardens by the Bay:

  • Snap selfies under drifting flower clouds

  • Capture reflections in glassy ponds and mirrors

  • Frame shots in flower archways and under fairy lights

Every step feels like entering a different fairytale scene.

🐠 Bonus: Poison Dart Frogs

Yes, tucked away in a little corner is a vivarium of colorful poison dart frogs. It's unexpected and a cool little feature for nature lovers!

📸 Photo Tip: The bubble-themed mirrored room is a top pick for those Insta-worthy snaps.

🦖 Lunch at Jurassic Nest: Michelin Meals in the Jungle

By now, we were hungry — and what better place to eat than among roaring dinosaurs? We dined at Jurassic Nest, an open-air food court themed like a Jurassic jungle and home to Michelin-rated stalls.

🥢 Top Picks:

  • Tsuta Ramen — the first Michelin-starred ramen shop

  • Bismillah Biryani — incredible flavours and generous servings

  • Nasi Lemak Ayam Taliwang — spicy and aromatic!

You eat under the canopy of towering dino models, with ambient jungle sounds playing around you. It’s quirky, fun, and delicious.

🌟 Garden Rhapsody Light Show

As the sky dimmed, we found our spot beneath the Supertree Grove for the Garden Rhapsody Show.

🎵 What is it?
A spectacular light and sound show where the Supertrees come alive with synchronized lights dancing to music.

🕖 Showtimes: 7:45 PM & 8:45 PM nightly
📍 Best Viewing Spot: Lay back near the centre of the Supertree Grove — you’ll be surrounded by glowing giants!

It felt magical — like watching nature and technology performing in perfect harmony.

🖼️ The Art Tunnel to Marina Bay MRT

After the show, we made our way through the underground passage connecting Gardens by the Bay and Marina Bay MRT Station. This long corridor is decorated with mirrored walls and modern art — serene during the day, but at night?

💃 It comes alive with K-Pop dancers practicing choreography in front of the mirrors. Lights, music, and the city’s youthful energy bouncing off every surface — an unexpected, delightful surprise.

🌉 Waterfront Promenade & Spectra Light Show

We continued walking to the Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade, where we found a scenic spot to view the Spectra – A Light & Water Show.

🌊 What to Expect:

  • Water jets, lasers, and projections dancing across Marina Bay

  • A dramatic soundtrack and coordinated lighting display

  • A skyline backdrop including Marina Bay Sands, ArtScience Museum, and the Singapore Flyer

🕘 Showtimes: 8:00 PM & 9:00 PM (extra 10:00 PM on weekends)
📍 Best Viewing Spot: Outside the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, right along the waterfront

🌪️ Rain Oculus & Final Moments

As we walked back, we passed the Rain Oculus, a giant swirling whirlpool inside Marina Bay Sands’ mall. Designed by artist Ned Kahn, this massive water feature creates a vortex of water that cascades dramatically two storeys down into the mall’s canal.

🌀 Highlight: Watching the whirlpool drop water from above while gondolas float quietly below — it’s strangely calming.

We passed a few more K-pop dancers filming videos, all perfectly choreographed, and then made our way to the MRT. Feet tired, hearts full — we headed back for a well-earned rest.

💡 Travel Tips of the Day

  • 🌸 Book early for Cloud Forest & Flower Dome entry — weekends can sell out.

  • 🦖 Visit Jurassic Nest before or after peak lunch hours to avoid queues.

  • 🎶 Arrive 15 minutes early for Garden Rhapsody to get a good spot on the grass.

  • 🌆 Combine Spectra & Garden Rhapsody on the same night for the ultimate light show experience.

🌇 Day 6: A Chill Day at Orchard Road & Robertson Quay Vibes

After the excitement of Day 5, we decided to take it slow. We managed a little sleep-in before jumping on the MRT, bound for Orchard Road — Singapore’s most famous shopping street.

🛍️ Orchard Road: Shopper’s Paradise

Located in the heart of Singapore, Orchard Road is a 2.2 km boulevard of retail heaven. Lined with flagship stores, luxury brands, and trendy boutiques, it’s a must-see for those who love fashion and city vibes. While it’s not the most budget-friendly place, the lights and buzz at night make it truly special. During the day, the stretch feels a bit subdued, but once evening hits, the neon signs and illuminated displays bring it to life.

We wandered along the strip briefly, then turned down Somerset Road where Kim wanted to pop into the Herbalife Store. She grabbed a couple of shakes before we crossed over to 313@Somerset Shopping Centre.

🛒 313@Somerset: Modern Shopping with Local Vibes

This mall is a good mix of high-street brands and smaller boutiques. It’s centrally located and offers lots of food options. We grabbed a quick bite and strolled around before making our way back to the hotel for our now-traditional afternoon relax and swim.

🍻 Evening at Brewerkz, Robertson Quay

As the sun dipped below the skyline, we headed out for dinner at Brewerkz, nestled along Robertson Quay. Robertson Quay as a perfect blend of lively urban energy and relaxed waterfront charm. Located along the scenic banks of the Singapore RiverBrewerkz is a popular riverside microbrewery and restaurant known for its craft beers, hearty food, and relaxed ambiance. We ordered a feast — crispy calamari, satay chicken skewers, a chicken burger, and a pork dish. Everything was delicious, and the riverside location added a lovely touch. On many evenings, live music or DJ sessions add an extra layer of vibrancy, creating a soundtrack that perfectly matches the energy of the venue. This live entertainment contributes to an inviting, festive atmosphere that draws both locals and visitors. In summary, an evening at Brewerkz, Robertson Quay is not just about the craft beers and delicious food—it’s about the overall experience. It’s where great taste meets an energetic yet laid-back environment, all set against the charming backdrop of Singapore’s iconic waterfront.

🎸 Nightcap at Wings Bar

On our way back, we passed by Wings Bar, where a new live band was firing up the night. The atmosphere was electric. We couldn’t resist grabbing a couple of drinks and soaking in the great tunes and lively crowd. There’s just something magical about Singapore nights — vibrant, musical, and warm. Wings Bar stands out in Singapore’s nightlife scene as a venue that seamlessly blends modern aesthetics with dynamic entertainment. Whether you’re there to dance, enjoy innovative cocktails, or simply soak in the vibrant atmosphere, an evening at Wings Bar promises to be a memorable experience.

A short walk later, we were back at our hotel for a good night’s sleep, ready to see what the next day would bring.
