On our P&O Pacific Encounter Cruise, our first port of call was the enchanting city of Auckland. As the ship arrived early in the dawn, we were greeted by the stunning skyline of this bustling metropolis. Before disembarking, we enjoyed a light breakfast at the Waterfront restaurant onboard, preparing ourselves for a day full of adventures.

Once we stepped off the ship, we embarked on a leisurely walk through the central business district of Auckland. The streets were bustling with locals and tourists, and we took our time, making occasional stops at local shops to browse the unique offerings. In need of a little pick-me-up, we stopped by United Coffee Nation to savor the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee.

Our first planned stop was the renowned Weta Workshop. We had pre-booked a tour, and upon arrival, we were thrilled to find an engaging and informative experience awaiting us. The tour took us through numerous displays and offered hands-on activities, giving us an insider's look into the creative process behind some of the most famous movies in cinema history. From props and costumes to special effects, Weta Workshop showcased the incredible craftsmanship that goes into bringing fantasy to life on the big screen.

After the tour, we couldn't resist exploring the Weta Shop, filled with an impressive array of merchandise inspired by the movies created at the workshop. From collectibles to clothing, there was something for every movie enthusiast. As we left Weta Workshop, we passed by the All Blacks Experience, a museum dedicated to New Zealand's legendary rugby team, adding another spot to our list for a future visit.

Feeling a mix of excitement and curiosity, we made our way to the Auckland Skytower, where we had pre-booked a combo ticket that included our visit to Weta Workshop. The elevator ride up to the viewing area was thrilling, and as we reached the top, we were rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the city and its surroundings. Watching some adventurous souls brave the zip line down the tower added a touch of adrenaline to the experience.

Slowly descending back down, we explored the area surrounding the Skytower, taking in the vibrant atmosphere and appreciating the local boutique shops that dotted the streets. Auckland truly offers a diverse range of shopping opportunities, blending international brands with local artisans.

As the day drew to a close, we made our way back to the ship, feeling satisfied with the adventures we had embarked on during our time in Auckland. With a couple of delectable cocktails in hand, we watched the sun set over the picturesque Auckland port, bidding farewell and eagerly anticipating our next destination: Tauranga.

Auckland, with its stunning skyline, cultural landmarks, and creative wonders of Weta Workshop, provided us with a truly memorable and fun-filled day. The city's vibrancy and charm beckon visitors to explore further, promising even more adventures for those lucky enough to experience it.
