The day started with us waking up early and making our way north on the highway to Caloundra. Moffatt Beach always a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, and we were excited to experience its beauty for ourselves once again

As we arrived at the beach, we noticed a few other locals already in the water with their dogs. The atmosphere was inviting and laid-back, with everyone enjoying the calmness of the early morning. The water was crystal clear and inviting, and we couldn’t resist jumping in. The sunrise in the background added an extra touch of magic to the scenery, making it a truly memorable experience.

After spending some time in the water, we decided to take a short walk and grab some breakfast. Our hunger led us to The Pocket Espresso Bar, a friendly and inviting cafe nearby. The cafe had a great atmosphere that matched the beach vibe perfectly. We placed an order for some delicious breakfast burgers and coffee, and we decided to enjoy our meal at one of the picnic tables along the shoreline. From there, we had a perfect view of the dogs running and playing on the beach, adding to the joyful atmosphere.

Feeling refreshed and energized after our meal, we couldn’t resist going back into the water for another swim. By this time, more people had arrived at the beach, bringing along their furry friends. It was heartwarming to see so many dogs and their owners enjoying the early morning swim together. Moffatt Beach truly is a pet-friendly destination, and the abundance of wagging tails only added to the happiness in the air.

Eventually, we reluctantly left the beach and decided to explore the Caloundra Markets. As luck would have it, the markets were bigger than usual, offering a wide variety of goods and products. While browsing, we stumbled upon a stall selling doggy treats, and Kim couldn’t resist picking up a few for our furry companion. The markets were bustling with people, all out enjoying the sunny morning and the vibrant atmosphere of the local community.

As the morning started winding down, we realized it was time to head back home before the afternoon traffic hit. It was a bittersweet moment, saying goodbye to the beautiful beach and all the wonderful experiences we had there. Our early morning swim at Moffatt Beach was truly a memorable and refreshing start to the day.

If you’re ever in the Sunshine Coast area, we highly recommend waking up early and heading to Moffatt Beach for an unforgettable morning swim. The stunning sunrise, friendly locals, and pet-friendly atmosphere make it a perfect spot to relax and recharge. Don’t forget to visit The Pocket Espresso Bar for a delicious breakfast and coffee while enjoying the breathtaking view. Moffatt Beach and its surrounding attractions, such as the Caloundra Markets, offer something for everyone, ensuring a day well spent.

King’s Birthday Long Weekend Trinity Island Holiday Park Burrum Heads

We Took Advantage of the King’s Birthday Long Weekend and Headed North to Trinity Island Holiday Park, Burrum Heads

The holiday season is always a great opportunity to spend time with your loved ones and explore nature. While the King’s Birthday long weekend came around, we decided to take full advantage of the holiday by packing up our caravan and heading north to Trinity Island Holiday Park, Burrum Heads. This gorgeous place offers the perfect back-to-nature experience with its location, set on more than 100 acres and fronting the Burrum River. As we arrived, we quickly set up our spot, and Kim and Shari took to the water straight away.

Later in the day, the Rayner’s arrived and set up beside us, and everyone was ready to enjoy the long weekend. Drinks were flowing, and the kids were in and out of the water, followed by a full moon with campfire burning away, making our experience worthwhile.

Next day we were up and early, taking a short drive to Hervey Bay. We dropped into breakfast at Exclusive Waterfront Restaurant, Urangan. The waterfront dining provides enviable views of Fraser Island, Hervey Bay's calming waters and the famous Urangan pier. You can relax on the balcony and enjoy something off their breakfast menu. Lunch time diners can enjoy watching the passing marine life in the area. Unfortunately, we sat at the covered front entrance because of Shari, our pup. While the waterfront is lovely and pet-friendly, you don’t get the amazing views of the ocean-like Enzo’s. However, you can’t go past the price and the big portions they provide.

After breakfast, we took a short drive down the road to the Urangan Pier Park Community Markets. The iconic Urangan Pier Park Community Markets sit adjacent to the Urangan Pier. Kim dropped by and brought a singlet gifted by Art by Rebecca. The artist behind every artwork showcasing the signature or 'Art by Rebecca Jane' logo is the very talented Rebecca (Jane) Knowles. From the markets, the girls took a walk to the end of the Urangan Pier and back, followed by checking out Hatch Design & Creative Store. Kim found it to be a lovely shop with friendly staff who gave her lots of helpful recommendations. There were different gifts to choose from at various prices. They also had coffee and dog treats.

From the markets, we headed to some shops to stock up a little food and then back to the campsite. Halfway back, though, we hit a roadblock. We noticed a helicopter landing on the road, a few hundred meters in front of us, due to a motorcycle and 4wd crash. Thankfully, we arrived safely back at the campsite and resumed swimming and kayaking, and listening to the Brisbane Lions go down to Collingwood in the AFL Grand Final.

The next day, Kim and I, plus Shari, headed back to Hervey Bay because Kim had dropped her purse at the markets. Fortunately, a good samaritan found her purse and returned it to the Hervey Bay Police Station. Without a booking, we were lucky to have breakfast at our favourite venue, Enzo’s on the Beach. Enzo’s provides light breakfast & lunch offerings in an airy cafe area with water views & an outdoor dining area.

After breakfast, we noticed a Gathering of Land Rover Pride. This event brought together Land Rover enthusiasts in a show of unapologetic Land Rover Pride, gathering all those that live and breathe the Land Rover lifestyle. Organised by Defenders of Australia (DOA) and its like minded partners.  The Gathering 23, was held in Hervey Bay, Qld.

After checking out the Land Rovers, we took Shari for a run at Pialba foreshore, followed by dinner at Burrum Heads Hotel to watch the Brisbane Broncos, aiming for success, go down to Penrith in the NRL grand final.

On the King’s birthday Monday, we all headed back to Hervey Bay for a swim at the beach on Esplanade Road, Urangan. We all enjoyed a swim with Robbie throwing a line in and catching a little flathead.

We then headed for lunch at Pier Village Café. We loved the uninterrupted outlook over the beachfront, Urangan Pier, and Fraser Island. With inside and outside dining available, it offers year-round comfortable seating options. It was a spectacular find, with friendly and welcoming staff. The food was excellent.

We then headed to Hervey Bay Adventure Playground Pialba, so the girls could have a play. The park is located right on the Esplanade, a short walk from Wet Side Water Park, with direct beach access.

Heading back to the campground meant more swimming and drinking the afternoon and night away. We watched helicopters picking up water from a dam opposite our campground and dump the water on a fire in the distance. The glow of the fire illuminated the night sky.

We had a quick pack-up the next morning and took a slow drive back to Brisbane. It was an amazing experience, and we will surely be back.

When you're camping, you get a chance to get in touch with nature, encounter wildlife and see the stars away from the bright lights of the big city. There's nothing quite like it. Make sure you and your family have the chance to connect with nature when you explore the many benefits of camping.
