The Scenic Rim has picturesque roads, beautiful landscapes and country roads ready for exploration with plenty of scenic lookouts and cafes.

 We took the scenic drive, through Samford, over Mount Glorious, through to Lowood and across the highway to check out Laidley’s Spring Festival. We discovered a quaint café in Forest Hill, 4342 Bar & Bistro, the wonderful Branell Homestead situated in the beautiful Lockyer Valley, Branell Homestead is for people who wish to experience the finer things in life and old fashioned friendly country hospitality and to top it off a little lake called Lake Dyer where families were enjoying a glorious day skiing.

After taking a Covid-forced hiatus for the past two years, the Laidley Spring Festival was back for 2022, with a raft of new events made their Festival debut. The theme for this year was “Swing into Spring”.

The night before The Twilight Feast & Fest served up relaxed festival feels at Parkland and the Laidley Recreation Reserve came alive under a sea of festoon lighting and thrum to live tunes, while a mix of local and international food vendors cooked the tastiest street food to your tastebuds. It was the first chance to wander through a smattering of stalls from creative bush businesses before Saturday’s large country market, coordinated by Buy From the Bush Qld.

We arrived just in time for one of the highlights of the program, the Spring Festival Grand Parade. The parade kicked off down Patrick Street, traversing through the CBD the parade showcased stunning decorative floats, as well as heritage trucks, vintage vehicles, community groups, schools, businesses and bands. The CBD was bustling with stallholders and stores offering a range of products including plants, fresh produce, home decor, knick-knacks and wares of local businesses.

Once we check out the local stores we moved our way down to Laidley Recreation Reserve to check out the Buy from the Bush QLD Market, which brought together rural, regional and local stallholders. Focusing on handmade, small business and entrepreneurs, this boutique market was a definite must-see for the Festival.

 

Other Highlights

Indulge yourself at Das Neumann Has with their delectable treats, markets and live entertainment or be astonished by Laidley Uniting Church’s, astounding Quilt and Craft Expo, markets and Courtyard Café.

Be ‘wowed’ with the Laidley Lutheran Church’s as it is filled with over 50 floral displays, created around the festival theme, not to mention a free cuppa, markets and food.

Spring Orchid Show had a new location, Laidley Sports Complex. Be mesmerized by impressive Orchid and photo displays. Participate in their workshop or just leisurely chat to stallholders as there is plenty to see and learn at this amazing venue.

Travel in time to long ago and experience the life of a pioneer at the Laidley Pioneer Village & Museum.

Enjoy a delicious & indulgent High Tea, take time out to catch up with friends and family while supporting an incredible community of women.
