Gold Coast Market Day

Gold Coast Weekend Markets - Day On The Green, The Village Markets

We all need time to relax and unwind for the sake of a positive life balance. Taking a trip away gives our minds and our bodies a chance to let go of everyday stressors. To be your best, you need to feel your best. Taking a trip away, whether that’s driving on your own self-adventure or road tripping with your wife and pup, lets you recharge your batteries on your own time.

Before the sun was peeking on the horizon we were on the M1 heading down to the Gold Coast, firstly stopping at Pizzey Park’s off-leash dog area. Part of Miami’s massive Pizzey Park sporting complex, with just about every sport available to play and train, you’ll be surrounded by active Gold Coasters and their doggies. You’ll find obstacles and plenty of spots for your dog to quench their predictable thirst. Pizzey Park is considered one of the best and one of a favourite places we take our pup. With a few other early risers our pup ran around meeting everyone, jumping in and out of water running in and out of the giant pine trees. From Miami we headed to Benowa for a Dog Market.

Dogs on the Green is a free community market for dog lovers and It’s a place to bring your dog along for a fun day out to socialise with other dogs and support small businesses who specialise in products and services for your much loved furry friends. The event comprises of around 60+ stalls along with a selection of food and drink vendors. We’ve wanted to come since the first event in May 2019 in Merrimac, followed by two events in 2020 at Benowa State School, missed the one in May 2021 and finally the star lined up and we attended the 19th July 2021 event. We picked up plenty of little treats.

Where: Benowa State Primary School, Benowa Rd (next to Benowa Gardens shopping centre)

 When: 17th October 2021

 Parking: Free Street Parking

We had to literally pull Shari (pup) away from the Dog Market to head to The Village Markets.  The Village Markets are Kim’s favourite market on the Gold Coast and is a twice-monthly celebration of creative’s, foodies and small businesses from the local community. A great market to spot start-ups, this is where you’ll discover the next best thing before anyone else. From funky threads for little and big market goers, to vintage treasures and tropical homewares, there’s something for everyone at TVM. Food trucks and gourmet eats ensure you’re well-fed while you wander, or like Tony and Shari (pup), find a spot on the lawn to take in the tunes of local musicians. The Village Markets aren’t just about supporting local. They care about sustainability, too. TVM supports locally-made items and its monthly ‘Rack Sale’ is the go-to Gold Coast market for pre-loved clothing. TVM also supports plastic-free, so bring your own bags or purchase one of their cool keepsake Good Vibes market bags.

Where: Burleigh Heads State School, Burleigh Heads

When: Every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month from 8:30am-1pm. *Pre-loved ‘Rack Sale’ is held only on the first Sunday.

Parking: Be aware there’s isn’t ample parking, so be aware if you’re a person that sleeps in.

It’s no secret that we love finding new café’s hotspots around the Gold Coat, but this weekend we finally had the opportunity to drop into The Henchman, Miami. Taking its name from the avenue it sits on rather than anything sinister, tucked away off the Gold Coast Highway on Henchman Ave sits this venue that looks like a place out of our Instagram-dreams. There are colourful hammocks, gorgeous white umbrellas, giant wooden swings, and even a beach bar. Arguably best news is that you don’t have to leave the furry friends at home. The Henchman are one hundred percent dog-and-child-friendly, so pack the car with the whole family and head down the coast for a Saturday stacked with fun!

Dogs on the Green Goodies

Travel gives you a much-needed opportunity to really get back to who you are, what makes you tick, and potentially rediscover parts of yourself that have been lost in the hustle and bustle of everyday life back home. There’s nothing quite like a long drive on an open road to clear the mind.
