Day Trip To Eumundi Markets Sunshine Coast

Day Trip To Eumundi Markets, Sunshine Coast. Australia
Renowned for its locally made artisan treasures, there’s no other market quite like it. Mark it in your diary - open rain, hail or shine every Saturday and Wednesday. Step into an ever-evolving collaboration of talented locals seeking to share their gifts with the world. The Original Eumundi Markets is the biggest and the best art and craft market in Australia. Meet the talented hands behind handcrafted furniture, homewares, artworks, ceramics, cutting-edge fashion and jewellery, and chat to the farmers and bakers selling fresh produce and gourmet delights. When you need a shopping break, rejuvenate with a massage, have your palm read or lose yourself in the stellar line-up of musicians and street performers. It’s an experience like no other.

What does Woodford Folk Festival, the Noosa Food and Wine Festival and The Original Eumundi Markets all have in common? Festival vibes. You'll feel them as soon as you cruise into Memorial Drive, however Eumundi Markets doesn't come with a hefty entrance fee. Get the feel-good vibes minus the price tag and follow the whiff of market aromas, groove along to live music and entertainment, discover artistic treasures and of course...you'll always spot a few hippies getting around.

Shopping is alot more fun when it involves street food, live music and bargains from local producers, designers and creative’s. There’s no denying Queensland’s 50 shades of blue will take your breathe away, but in between the beaches, reefs and islands is a unique experience with 50 plus shades of colour. A dose of the Original Eumundi Markets is the best medicine. Think warming aromas, live music, buzzing alleyways, authentic smiles and there’s always a few hippies getting around. How can this not make you smile? It doesn’t matter how many times you visit we, there’s an ever-evolving range of artisan treasures to discover and this time we got to experience it on a Wednesday.

The iconic and towering heritage listed fig trees rise above the 600 plus stall market. Wide shady walkways make strolling among the stalls and old quirky buildings a pleasant experience. A plethora of all things locally handmade, the market sells everything from delicately constructed craft to organically grown produce. Their policy of make it, bake it, design it, sew it or grow it, ensures that they select the very best of items and crafts.

Tips for Visiting Eumundi Markets

It’s worth paying a few dollars for the parking lots rather than cruising the streets looking for a spot

Saturdays are usually a quieter day than Wednesdays to visit

When your shopping’s done, pop into one of the cafes on Eumundi’s main street

Wander under the huge shady trees among the dozens of stalls

Get your face painted

Get your palm read

Get your feet massaged

Listen to local musicians, including didgeridoo players

Day Trip To Peregian Village

Day Trip To Peregian Village
My sunshine doesn't come from the skies. It comes from the love that's in my dogs eyes.

Take a deep breathe and relax everyone, Spring is on its way. In just a few weeks we will be soaking up the sun and splashing around in the refreshing salt water at one of the Sunshine Coast’s and Gold Coasts many magical beaches. From Caloundra to Noosa, Southport to Currumbin the coastline is strewn with sandy shores and Open Ocean, each with their own features and facilities.

Whether you’re taking the dogs for a run, looking for a wave or keen for a beach barbecue with mates, we love getting out and taking our pup for a run and swim.

We took a early drive to one of our favourite little seaside towns of Mudjimba and headed towards North Shore beach to soak up the sunrise, the fresh salt air, wild ocean, and stunning sandy patch. The doggy area extends all the way to Maroochy River, so there’s a choice between jumping the waves and swimming in the calmer river. There are always lots of dogs getting their morning exercise but you still feel like you have the entire beach to yourself.

Once we soaked up all the beauty, we headed onto Peregian Village.
Peregian Village is one of the most community-minded villages on the Sunshine Coast.  There’s a super-chilled, centrally-located shopping village, with a shady town square encircled by trendy cafes, fashion stores and gift stores that err on the side of the eclectic and cutting-edge. You can stroll barefoot around the little town, then cross the road to the beachfront park, with its excellent skatepark and children’s playground, and the popular local Surf Club.

For a small and compact place, Peregian Village has a number of great cafes on offer. Most of them open very early between 5-6 am for all those early risers, beach walkers and surfers, and many close by 2-3pm. As opposed to many of Noosa's cafes, serving predominantly tourists, in Peregian Beach it is the locals and the community who frequent many of these cafes. There’s nothing like a Sunday morning brekky sharing your bacon with your little mate.

It’s a well-known fact that ALL Raw Energy stores across the Coast are extremely accommodating when it comes to four legged friend, but Raw Energy Peregian Village has just that little bit of extra seating if you’ve got a few pups in tow. Raw is also known for their fresh, healthy approach to food. We ordered a couple of Big Breakfast meals so Shari could some bacon, toast and Puppacino the boutiques were starting to open.

On queue Kim disappeared to discover new and acclaimed boutique stores that bring a fabulous mix of local and International brands and flavours to Peregian Beach. If you have a keen eye for fashion, or if you are looking for that perfect piece for your home, you might just be pleasantly surprised by the lack of mainstream and the abundance of unique products and services available.

One of Kim favorites was PatrizaB. PatriziaB combines trends, styles and international influences without losing its Italian origin. Kim picked up and new Limited Edition top and jeans, and also dropped by Peticular, which is a boutique pet store and picked up another new lead and doggy treats.

The village of Peregian and its unspoilt beach is a unique location along the Sunshine Coast, and is a perfect area for couples looking for a romantic day out, as well as families looking for somewhere with a peaceful atmosphere.

Volunteering At The Bloody Long Walk Gold Coast 35Km Challenge to Cure Mito

The Bloody Long Walk Gold Coast- 35Km Challenge to Cure Mito

There’s nothing like starting the day on the beach, watching the sun come up over the Gold Coast, to make you glad you’re alive. it’s just a beautiful, peaceful thing to do … the day is so quiet, whether it’s at the beginning or the end … and looking up at the sky really gives you that moment of Zen.

Sunrises and sunsets are actually incredibly hard because that window of opportunity is so small. There’s always that one moment that’s so much better than the others. Lately I have been capturing some amazing colours because we have more aerosols in the atmosphere — caused by things like smoke or dust that scatter the light — combined with quite stable conditions. We’re seeing inversions in the lower levels of atmosphere and mid to high level cloud that really show off the scattered light.

We were up early with 750 people who were waling 35km across the Gold Coast to participate in The Bloody Long Walk, a national fundraising initiative for the Mito Foundation.

Strapping on their sneakers whilst being waived off by the Federal Member for Moncrieff, Angie Bell MP, participants walked for over 7 hours, nearly 47,000 steps, from Miami all the way through to Broadbeach. The Gold Coast community was unbelievable with their support of the Mito Foundation and The Bloody Long Walk, which is one of ten Bloody Long Walks taking place across Australia over the next few months. Mito is a debilitating genetic disorder that robs the body’s cells of energy. It can cause multiple organ failure and potentially death, and can affect anyone at any age. The funds generated from The Bloody Long Walk will support Australian families whose lives have been rocked by Mito. They will also go towards vital research and education.

We took some start photos at Pizzey Park, Miami and cheered the participants on their scenic 35-kilometre course towards Tallebudgera Creek and Currumbin before heading back up the coastline to Broadbeach.  During the walk, there were 5 Checkpoints providing water, fruit and sunscreen, ensuring that each participant made it to the finish line. We first helped out at Checkpoint 3 at Martin Sheils Park. The park commemorates former mailman for the district, Martin Sheils, who also provided a passenger and grocery order service from 1922 to 1946. Once most participants passed through we move onto Checkpoint 5, then onto the Finish Line. It was a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day, along with great support crowd that encompassed all ages and backgrounds.

It was a great way to tour the Gold Coast while supporting a worthy cause. With our busy lives, it can be hard to find time to volunteer. However, the benefits of volunteering have been enormous. Volunteering offers vital help to people in need, worthwhile causes, and the community, but the benefits can be even greater for the volunteer. The right match can help you to find friends, connect with the community, learn new skills, and even advance your career.

Giving to others can also help protect your mental and physical health. It can reduce stress, combat depression, keep you mentally stimulated, and provide a sense of purpose. While it’s true that the more you volunteer, the more benefits you’ll experience, volunteering doesn’t have to involve a long-term commitment or take a huge amount of time out of your busy day. Giving in even simple ways can help those in need and improve your health and happiness.

It was a fantastic day, perfect weather and we enjoyed ourselves. The walkers certainly enjoyed having the volunteers company. There have been so many comments praising the volunteers on Facebook
